FMU captured the first win of the 2018-2019 campaign and also the first win for Head Coach Alfonso Alvarez by defeating tournament host Edward Waters College in straight sets on Friday.

Leading the way for FMU was junior outside hitter Yulianna Charris with 8 kills and 15 digs. Junior right side hitter Gerti Bineva contributed 7 kills and 5 aces. 

"It seemed like every time we needed a point, there was Yulianna with a kill, with a dig, or with a service point", said Coach Alvarez. 

The Lions evened their record to 1-1 and will play Central State University next.
