MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – When Florida Memorial's men travel to Webber International University Thursday (Nov. 21), it'll be a battle of two teams hungry for a victory as they each avoid dropping into a disadvantageous position in the conference standings in a game set for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off at the Sabbagh Athletic Center.

Both the Lions (1-4, 0-1 Sun Conference) and the Warriors (2-5, 0-1) dropped their respective Sun Conference openers and will go into Thursday's game following a loss at home.

A lackluster shooting night and a few too many turnovers was the anvil tied to the Lions' foot in its 109-72 loss to Florida National University. Still, 7-foot junior Mubashar Ali turned in a 23-point, nine-rebound performance that showcased his ability to finish around the rim while in traffic.

FMU senior guard Jordan Martin scored in double figures for the fourth time in five games in this past Tuesday (scoring 11), but the Lions will need him to be closer to the level of performance he had against Ave Maria University (23 points).

An FMU win, which not only will stop a two-game skid this season but will also snap a two-game slide against the Warriors, Thursday may come down to the Lions' ability to slow down Warriors guard Tommie Luke. The 6-foot-4 Luke put up a 28-point, 10-rebound, five-steal stat line against Florida Memorial in the second of last year's two meetings and is once again his team's leading scorer at just over 21 points per game this year.
