MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial will be looking to earn its first home victory of the season Saturday when it hosts No. 21 Warner University at the FMU Wellness Center.
The game is set to tip-off at 4 p.m., or 30 minutes following the conclusion of the preceding women's game that tips at 2 p.m.
The Lions (2-4, 1-1 Sun Conference) come into the showdown with the Royals feeling good about themselves following their 89-88 win over Webber International University this past Thursday. FMU got a season-high 25 points from senior
Omar Outar in the win and kept pace in the Sun Conference standings.
Saturday's game might be Florida Memorial's toughest test up to this point in the season. Warner University (7-1, 1-1) earned the No. 21 ranking in the NAIA DII Men's Basketball Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll back in October and won its first seven games of the season. The Royals' winning streak was snapped Thursday (Nov. 21) when it lost to TSC opponent St. Thomas University 83-75.
Warner still ranks No. 2 in NAIA Division II in scoring offense and is the No. 1 team in total steals and steals per game. Florida Memorial's potential advantage would be in the front court; where the Royals don't have a player taller than 6-foot-7 but FMU has 6-foot-8 forward
Nehemiah Darrett, 6-foot-9 wing
Cheikh Kebe, and 7-foot center
Mubashar Ali.
