(MIAMI GARDENS, FLA) -- The Florida Memorial University volleyball team will host 10th ranked Eastern Oregon University in the first home game of the 2019 season, Tuesday, August 20.
Both teams come into the match after starting the season 2-0. The Lions defeated Pensacola Christian College 3-0 and Columbia International University 3-1 at the Jersey Mike's Classic hosted by Keiser University over the weekend. The Mountaineers saw similar victories defeating both Webber International University 3-0 and Warner University 3-1.
On the home side junior
Sammyra Albarran comes into the match leading the Lions with 22 kills. Freshman
Biancaliz Cruz is second on the team with 19 kills and leads the pack with 10 service aces. Defensively junior
Keisha Santana has a team-high 27 digs while classmate
Francheska Rivera has 14 and leads the team with 59 assists.
For Eastern Oregon senior Megan Bunn leads the Mountaineers with 23 kills. Junior Kiley McMurtrey is leading the group with 42 digs and is second on the team with five blocks. Junior Madison Pilon has 41 assists in two games and is second on the team with 32 digs.
FMU has no record of the two teams playing each other in the past and hopes to start the trend with a win. The game will take place in the FMU Wellness Center and begins at 4 P.M.
