MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University's men's basketball team will be out to snap its four-game streak when it hosts Webber International University Saturday afternoon in the FMU Wellness Center.

Saturday's game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. tip, but it will actually begin 30 minutes following the conclusion of the preceding women's game. Also, fans will not be permitted to attend the game but will be able to view the game via a free online live stream.

The Lions (1-5, 1-2 The Sun Conference) enter this weekend's game having spent the previous weekend on the road in Montgomery, Alabama participating in the Battle At The Beach Tournament – playing three games in three days (Nov. 27-29). While holiday tournaments can be a good experience, they can also become battles of attrition – with FMU's being more of the latter as its margin of defeat increased in each of the three games.

When Florida Memorial steps on the Wellness Center floor Saturday, it'll a return to the venue where it played its basketball so far this season. The Lions got 32 points from guard Sam Mack Jr. in a 77-73 win over rival St. Thomas University. Protecting its home court Saturday should come with an extra incentive given FMU's men won't host another home game for the rest of the 2020 calendar year after Saturday and play in its friendly confines until January 2nd, 2021.

Standing in the Lions' way Saturday will be a Webber International (5-5, 2-2) team that has been a bit up and down this season. The Warriors began the year on a three-game losing streak; won its next two; lost the following two; and is currently on a three-game winning streak after defeating St. Thomas University this past Thursday.

Webber is buoyed by the combo of 6-foot-3 guard Jaylon Myles and 6-foot-6 forward Kris Goettert. Myles, a redshirt senior, is averaging 17.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game this season while shooting 40 percent from the three-point line while Goettert is just shy of averaging a double-double this season with 13.9 points and 8.7 rebounds per contest.

Both, however, are turnover prone – with each essentially giving away the ball three times a game.

Once again, Florida Memorial will have a considerable advantage in terms of size in the front court with the combination of 7-foot center Mubashar Ali, 6-foot-9 forward Chiekh Kebe; 6-foot-8 forward Ebenezer Aboagye; and 6-foot-8 wing Quincy Urbina.

Oddly enough, though, the Lions have lost the rebound battle in all but one of their six games this season.

It would surely put a smile on FMU head coach Ansar Al-Ameen's face if his team gives the effort needed to win the battle on the backboards and gives the attention to detail to cut down on turnovers.
