MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University's baseball team will look to build some momentum as it heads into a busy week on the diamond when the Lions host Florida National University for a single game Tuesday at Harry T. Moore Field at 2 p.m.

FMU (6-12) is set to play what will be five games in four days this week, beginning with the home showdown with the Conquistadors – the second meeting between the programs this season. The Lions will travel to face Caldwell University for a neutral-site, single game Thursday and complete the week with a three-game home weekend series against Bryant & Stratton University.

Florida Memorial first will look to take down FNU Tuesday.

In the first meeting, the Lions came away with the victory in dramatic fashion – needing a walk-off single by Gabriel Marinez in the bottom of the 10th inning to secure a 4-3 win. Marinez's late-game heroics punctuated what was a solid day for him at the plate, as he went a team-best 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI.

The Lions could be catching Florida National at the "right time" given that the Conquistadors are in the midst of a heavy stretch of their own schedule. When FNU rolls into to Miami Gardens Tuesday, it will be playing the seventh game of a 9-game stretch spanned over just six days.

Still, Florida Memorial can't rely on the fatigue of an opponent. The Lions are riding the confidence of taking their weekend series against NCAA Division-II opponent Chestnut Hill College this past weekend – a stretch of games where FMU showed it can produce runs with power or strategy.

Lions head coach Florentino Burgos just needs his pitching staff to continue showing it can put clamps on opposing batters.
