MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University steadied the proverbial ship this past Thursday, snapping a two-game losing streak with a win at Keiser University, now it will be looking to start a new winning streak if it can earn another big road victory when it travels to College of Coastal Georgia Saturday in CCGA's Coffin Gymnasium.

With two of the top teams in the Sun Conference squaring off, Saturday's match – which is set for a 2 p.m. first serve – has been tabbed as the TSC Volleyball Match of the Week.

FMU (7-5, 6-2 The Sun Conference) looked impressive this past Wednesday in its sweep of host Keiser. Graduate senior outside hitter Taira Cottingham had her best game of the season up to this point, leading the team with 10 kills.

Cottingham's athleticism and power was on full display while middle blockers and sisters Daphinie and Kimberlie Correa also did their part to generate points for the Lions – combining for 9 blocks – as the team's usual offensive leaders – Biancaliz Cruz and Sammyra Albarran – had more modest statistical nights.

Saturday's match will be the second meeting between the programs this season. Florida Memorial upended Coastal Georgia in the first meeting back in September, earning a 3-0 sweep and handing the Mariners their first loss of the season up to that point.

To CCGA's credit, it quickly bounced back from the loss – winning seven of its past eight games since losing to Florida Memorial.

The Mariners do have a versatile star in Giovana Larregui Lopez. Listed as an outside hitter, Lopez is one of the few players to have earned the conference's Defender of the Week and Attacker of the Week honors in the same season.

It was Cruz that buoyed Florida Memorial in the first meeting against Coastal Georgia with senior libero Keisha Santana Roldan registering a season-high 20 digs in the match. Look for FMU head coach Marrita Crockett-Moulton to rely on her veteran players again Saturday as the Lions hope to hand the Mariners their first home loss of the season.
