MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University will be looking to win its third-straight match and complete a regular season sweep of Warner University when the Royals visit Miami Gardens, Florida Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. Sun Conference showdown in the FMU Wellness Center.

Earning a victory Wednesday would also keep the Lions in prime position to retain their stake in the claim as the top team in the conference standings. Florida Memorial (8-5, 7-2 The Sun Conference) is currently tied with rival St. Thomas University for the No. 1 spot and need to keep pace with the Bobcats ahead of their upcoming showdown in November.

FMU enters Wednesday's match looking like a team that's found its "mojo" again.

Prior to the back-to-back wins this past week, the Lions suffered back-to-back losses – both sweeps – the week before that and looked like a disjointed group. As the team has righted the ship, it has seen great production from its middle blockers, senior Daphinie Correa and junior Kimberlie Correa. The sisters shined bright in both of FMU's wins this past week, including a combined 12-block performance against College of Costal Georgia.

Graduate senior outside hitter Taira Cottingham also turned in a pair of solid performances this past week, including a 10-kill night against rival Keiser University.

Florida Memorial's getting back to looking like the team that won six consecutive games earlier this season probably had a lot to with the performance of senior libero and leader Keisha Santana Roldan. Roldan totaled 33 digs through the two matches this past week – including matching her single-game season-high of 21 digs against CCGA – and earned Sun Conference Defender of the Week honors.

With the Correa's and Cottingham stepping up, Lions third-year head coach Marrita Crockett-Moulton has been able to deploy lineups that remain stout offensively and defensively through substitutions and take pressure off stalwarts Biancaliz Cruz and Sammyra Albarran.

In facing Warner University, Florida Memorial will be taking on the team that currently sits in the basement of the Sun Conference standings. The Royals (4-16, 0-9) haven't won a match against a TSC opponent this season and were swept by the Lions when the teams met on Warner's home floor earlier this season.
