MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University will be looking to build on its dramatic season-opening victory this week as it prepares to go on an extended road trip beginning Wednesday with a Wednesday night game at No. 9 Talladega College (Ala.) at 8 p.m.

The Lions will be away from home for five days, traveling to Alabama to play three games in that span. Wednesday's game, which will be played inside TC's Hawkins Student Activity Center, will be a stand-alone matchup while FMU's remaining two games during the road trip will be a part of the Jimmy Faulkner Classic in Montgomery, Alabama on Friday and Saturday.

Florida Memorial (1-0) kicked off its regular season with a victory for the first time since the 2014-15 this past Thursday thanks to Carington Campbell's game-winning three-pointer with five seconds left in the game that lifted the Lions to a 67-65 win over University of Fort Lauderdale.

Campbell's shot along with the play of guards Anfernee King (13 points) and Corey Benton (11 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds) showed that FMU head coach Ansar Al-Ameen's commitment to elevate his team's backcourt play through dogged recruiting has already paid dividends – as all three are in their first year with the Lions.

FMU's game against Fort Lauderdale wasn't a perfect one though. While the Lions coaching staff would rather correct things after a win, it still needs to find ways for the squad to cut down on turnovers – after committing 22 against the Eagles – and work on free throw shooting following their 9-of-21 performance in the first game.

When the Lions stroll into Talladega, they'll be taking on a team that has found success through the early parts of this season and is living up to their preseason top 10 ranking. The Tornadoes have won their first three games of the season and have done so in dominating fashion; defeating their first three opponents by an average margin of 41.5 points.

TC (3-0) is led by a tandem of high-scoring guards in Kamron Brice and Darryl Baker. Both are averaging just over 20 points per game as both can stretch and punish a defense with their three-point shooting while Tornadoes 6-foot-9 junior center Amir Yusuf does all the dirty work – averaging 8 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 blocks per game.

Florida Memorial's success against TC will depend largely on its ability to take care of the ball. Talladega has averaged just eight turnovers per game this season and likely won't gift the Lions any extra possessions, so it'll be paramount that FMU doesn't cut into its own scoring opportunities with unforced turnovers.
