MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Having dropped its past four games, Florida Memorial University will be looking to put a foot in the ground and reverse course when it hosts No. 8 Keiser University for a midweek, non-conference showdown Tuesday afternoon at Harry T. Moore Field.

Though the Lions and Seahawks share the Sun Conference, because the game is during the week and is a single-game matchup, it will not count towards either team's conference record.

Entering Tuesday, FMU (10-12) has dropped its past four games following the rough weekend in Georgia that saw the Lions get swept by Thomas University in their three-game weekend series.

The Lions did fine with the bats in their hands – led by junior catcher Josue Sanchez as the team recorded at least 9 hits in all three games against the Night Hawks this past weekend – it was just a tough two-day stretch for FMU's pitching staff. Ace pitcher Johnaikel Acosta, who had missed nearly six weeks with an upper extremity injury, returned to the mound but only threw a third of an inning before exiting game as reaggravated the injury that had him sideline originally.

FMU's other starters for the weekend – Krystian Negron and Rafael Fernandez – had some bright spots while toeing the slab but couldn't win enough battles with the Thomas University batters.

Welcoming No. 8 Keiser to town while trying to snap a losing streak isn't the most ideal of circumstance for the Lions. In the previous three meetings between the squads this season, the Seahawks handed Florida Memorial losses – each ended early by the 10-run rule.

Keiser has been a hot ball club, too – winning 12 of their past 14 games by an average of eight runs.

If FMU is to upend the nationally ranked Keiser Tuesday, it will need to put together one of its best pitching performances of the season while still producing the kind of offensive output it has for much of this season.
