FMU Football Schedule Changes, Will Travel To St. Thomas University Saturday

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Not all rivalries have to be bitter ones.

While Florida Memorial University and St. Thomas University have had their fair share of spirited competitions across just about every sport, FMU did their Miami Gardens neighbor a favor by agreeing to change the date of the teams' football showdown this season – moving the game from its October date to now playing on Saturday, September 4.

The football teams will play its version of the "Battle of Miami Gardens" this coming Saturday at Miami Monsignor Edward Pace High School Field at 12 noon.

FMU, which opened its regular season this past Saturday with a hard-fought battle at historically Black university (HBCU) rival Edward Waters University, originally had an open date on September 4th, which precipitated the change. St. Thomas had its original season-opener wiped out since its scheduled opponent – University of Pikeville – forfeited the game and left the Bobcats with what would've been a multiple week hole in their schedule.

Florida Memorial will now have its open week on October 16.
