MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University's women's soccer program will begin what will be a three-game road stint this week with a ride up to Davie, Florida to face NCAA Division-II opponent Nova Southeastern University Monday evening at NSU's Soccer Complex.

This week's road trifecta will be a bit of a rigorous set for the Lady Lions (0-2), Beginning with the Sharks, followed by a road match at NCAA Division-II Palm Beach Atlantic on this coming Thursday and ending with a Sunday ride up to Jacksonville, Florida to take on rival Edward Waters University.

In facing opponents from elevated levels of competition, Florida Memorial isn't only worried about the final score or the win-loss record, but Lions first-year head coach Anna Maliszewska wants to continue the maturation process of her young squad by sharpen the team's resolve for later matches in the season against conference opponents.

Granted, earning a victory is still the ultimate prize.

FMU took a step forward in its development this past Thursday when it took its first lead during a regular season match for the first time since 2014. Florida Memorial jumped out to a 1-0 lead on Florida National University on a Natalie Puntonet goal in the third minute.

The Lions also were the most aggressive offensively that they've been in essentially the same span – racking up a season-high in total shots and shots on goal.

In Nova Southeastern, FMU will be taking on a team that not only reached the NCAA Soccer Tournament in 2019 but made it to the elite eight of the tourney.

FMU will be looking to showcase the same kind of energy and aggressiveness it showed against the Conquistadors against the Sharks Monday while battling to keep the final margin much closer than it was in the previous meeting against Nova.
