MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University's volleyball program has already sent a message to the rest of The Sun Conference with its performances over the past week and it can double down on that message if it can secure a victory over visiting Southeastern University Saturday in the FMU Wellness Center at 2 p.m.

Fans are welcomed to attend Saturday's game, which has been tabbed as the Sun Conference Game of the Week. Admission is free; attending fans are asked to wear facial coverings while inside the arena and maintain social distance when possible.

The Lions (4-3, 3-0 The Sun Conference) put themselves in the driver's seat of the Sun Conference standings by defeating TSC preseason No. 1 team Keiser University, previously unbeaten College of Coastal Georgia, and Warner University in a seven-day span – sweeping Coastal Georgia and Warner in the process.

Overall, Florida Memorial has won four straight matches since knocking off Edward Waters University two weeks ago.

Florida Memorial has benefited from junior Biancaliz Cruz emerging as an early candidate for conference Player of the Year honors. Cruz is among the team's leaders in kills, points, and digs while also leading the team in service aces this season.

Graduate senior Sammyra Albarran has also shined as the team's top outside hitter – leading the team in kills and points – while 6-foot-2 junior middle Kimberlie Correa has been a defensive force at the net, evident by her team-high 27 blocks this season.

In facing Southeastern (11-7, 1-1), FMU will be taking on a team that has won six of its past seven matches. However, the Fire's loss in the midst of that span came against Keiser University, a team that the Lions made fairly easy work of recently. SEU lost to Keiser 2-3 (25-22, 26-28, 21-25, 25-23, 11-15) on September 18th.

The Fire have a pair of young outside hitters that FMU will need to give an extra bit of attention in Sandy Cao and Kennedy Jones. Cao and Jones have accounted for 208 and 149 kills respectively and both sport attacking percentages above .220.

Southeastern will represent another tough test for Florida Memorial, but the Lions' confidence should be at a substantially elevated level given how they've been able to manufacture its wins on during its current streak. FMU has battled through close sets and has shown great resolve and fortitude by either rallying from deficits or building on momentum to expand leads.

Success Saturday will not only mean FMU extends its winning streak and strengthens its stranglehold on the TSC standings, it could also be the Lions' second-straight victory over Southeastern in the all-time series between the programs – which SEU leads 17-1.
