MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – With its spot already clinched in the upcoming Sun Conference postseason tournament, Florida Memorial University will be looking to secure the highest seed possible over the final week of the regular season, beginning this weekend when it travels to face No. 19 Southeastern University Saturday night in SEU's Furnace Gymnasium.

The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start but it will officially tip-off 30 minutes following the preceding women's game between the teams.

About The Lions (13-8, 9-5 TSC)
  • FMU enters the weekend having been edged out 91-90 by Ave Maria University this past Thursday.
  • Junior guard Anfernee King had a career-best game, totaling 28 points – including a last-second three-pointer that left the Lions one-point shy of the Gyrenes.
  • Florida Memorial also got 21 points and 9 rebounds from Holcombe, but leading scorer Corey Benton had just 10 points.
  • The Lions have already clinched a spot in the Sun Conference postseason tourney and currently sit in the fourth seed in the standings.
  • Mathematically, FMU can still finish as high as the No. 2 in the standings but would need to win out – at SEU this weekend and at Webber International next Saturday – and get help from other teams.

Scouting Southeastern (20-6, 10-4 TSC)
  • Southeastern comes into the weekend as a team that appears to be sputtering, as it's loss three of its past five games.
  • The Fire fell to St. Thomas University (83-72) this past Thursday.
  • Still, Southeastern was ranked No. 19 in the latest national NAIA men's basketball poll.
  • SEU junior forward Riley Minix continues to lead his team and the Sun Conference in scoring and rebounding this season – turning in 22.9 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.
  • The Fire have a 15-2 record at home this season.
  • Southeastern currently sits atop the conference standings.

Series History
  • FMU trails the all-time series against SEU 7-10.
  • The Fire won the meeting between the teams earlier this season 77-74 on Florida Memorial's floor.
  • The Lions are 4-4 when playing on the road against Southeastern.

Keys To Victory
  • Florida Memorial's late-game execution has been a mixed bag of results this season. It stung them in the first meeting against SEU and against Ave Maria Thursday, so the Lions need to show they can operate in the clutch.
  • Benton needs to have a bounce back game and provide the team with the scoring punch in the backcourt.
