MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University's men's basketball team will play its regular season finale Thursday when it hosts junior college Johnson University (Fla.) in the FMU Wellness Center at 7:30 p.m.

About The Lions (13-9, 9-6 TSC)
  • FMU enters the matchup having dropped its previous two games – both against Sun Conference opponents Ave Maria University and No. 19 Southeastern University.
  • To extract a morale victory, the Lions lost those two games by a combined four points.
  • Junior forward Jacobi Gordon led the team in scoring against the Fire this past Saturday, totaling 20 points on 6-of-10 shooting.
  • Not only has Florida Memorial has clinched its first berth in the Sun Conference postseason tournament in head coach Ansar Al-Ameen's four-year tenure, but it will very likely host an opening round game this coming Tuesday (Feb. 22).
  • FMU has also set a new high for wins in a season in Al-Ameen's four seasons.

Scouting Johnson (8-13)
  • Johnson University enters Thursday's game having won its past two games.
  • JU has played a handful of games against NAIA opponents this season, including TSC teams Southeastern University and Keiser University – both losses.
  • Thursday's game will be the regular season finale for the Suns.

Series History
  • Florida Memorial leads the all-time series against Johnson University 1-0.
  • The Lions won the meeting 86-72 during the 2018-19 season.

Keys To Victory
  • FMU will have a decisive talent advantage – especially in the frontcourt with Brent Holcombe, Mubashar Ali, Cheikh Kebe, and Gordon – and should overwhelm the Suns at the rim on both ends.
