FMU MBB Ready For Battle Heading Into TSC Tournament Opening Round Matchup With St. Thomas University

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Making its first appearance in the Sun Conference Tournament in the past four years, 5-seed Florida Memorial University will be looking to win the "rubber match" against 4-seed and rival St. Thomas University in the opening round of the Sun Conference Tourney Tuesday night in STU's Fernandez Family Center.
 
The winner of Tuesday's tilt will advance to the TSC Tournament semifinals, which will be held in Lake Wales, Florida at Warner University.
 
About The Lions (14-10, 9-7 TSC)
  • FMU missed out on any chance of possibly taking the 4-seed with its 77-71 loss at Webber International University this past Saturday.
  • The Lions have been on the wrong side of some close losses recently, dropping its final three TSC regular season games by a combined 10 points.
  • Florida Memorial senior center Jethro Tshisumpa recorded his second-straight double-double this past Saturday against WIU, totaling a team-high 11 points and 10 rebounds to go along with 5 blocks.
  • FMU head coach Ansar Al-Ameen is making his debut in the Sun Conference postseason tournament.
