MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Riding the high of upsetting nationally-ranked Keiser University this past Wednesday, Florida Memorial University will be looking to earn its first home wins of the season when it hosts NAIA independent Florida National University in a three-game weekend series beginning Friday at Harry T. Moore Field.

The teams will play a single game Friday set for a 2 p.m. start then return to the diamond Saturday for a pair of games beginning at 12 p.m.

About The Lions (1-0)
  • FMU put the rest of the Sun Conference on notice with a 9-6 win over No. 8 Keiser University this past Wednesday.
  • The Lions scored runs in six consecutive innings against the Seahawks and recorded eight total hits.
  • Nathan Harris Jr. and Fernando Vila both hit 2-run home runs in the season-opener.
  • Axel Gomez led the team with 2 hits, 2 RBI, and a run scored.
  • Head coach Florentino Burgos enters his sixth season leading the program.

Scouting Florida National (0-5)
  • FNU enters the weekend series a winless ball club.
  • The Conquistadors were handed losses by three of FMU's Sun Conference constituents: Ave Maria University, Webber International University, St. Thomas University.
  • Florida National lost those five games by a combined 13-54 score and was shutout in three of the games.
  • FNU does not have any home games on its 2022 baseball schedule.

Series History
  • FMU leads the all-time series against the Conquistadors 5-2.
  • The Lions have scored nine runs or more against FNU in six out of the seven meetings.
  • Florida Memorial has hosted all the meetings between the programs.

Keys To Victory
  • FMU can't look past the Conquistadors – the win at Keiser earlier this week is in the rearview mirror.
  • Pitching continues to be the lynchpin in the Lions' success; being able to produce runs has been non-issue for the team in the past few seasons.
