MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University will be looking to rebound from dropping its weekend series this past Saturday by picking up a non-conference win when it hosts NAIA independent program University of Fort Lauderdale Wednesday at Harry T. Moore Field at 2 p.m.

About The Lions (7-4)
  • FMU enters the week having dropped the final two games of its three-game weekend series against conference foe Webber International University this past Saturday.
  • The Lions took the first game from the Warriors this past Friday after they got a solid pitching outing from starter Max Charnin.
  • Florida Memorial senior outfielder Rohandry Javier has been one of the team's most consistent players this season; leading the team in batting average (.441) and sharing the lead for stolen bases (8) while being second in runs scored (10) and hits (15).
  • Even with the losses to WIU this past weekend, FMU had its best start through the first 10 games of the regular season – going 7-3.
  • Lions head coach Florentino Burgos has seen his team average seven runs per game this season and only score fewer than three runs once so far this season.
  • Florida Memorial needed a Luis Velandia sacrifice fly to complete its rally and defeat University of Fort Lauderdale 5-4 back on February 22nd.

Scouting Fort Lauderdale (16-10)
  • Fort Lauderdale will come into Harry T. Moore Field riding a three-game winning streak since losing to FMU back on Feb. 22.
  • The Eagles took three games from Florida National University this past weekend, averaging nearly 10 runs per game across the series.
  • FTL is 1-8 this season when facing teams from The Sun Conference going into Wednesday.
  • Fort Lauderdale has seven players that have appeared in at least 20 games this season and are currently hitting above .300 – led by slugger Wilbert Javier-Vargas.

Series History
  • The teams played their first regular season matchup this on Feb. 22, which FMU won 5-4.

Keys To Victory
  • The Lions' pitching staff can't allow a negative at-bats turn into negative innings.
  • FMU also needs to be more prudent with its decisions while on the base paths, as multiple baserunners were either caught stealing or picked off this past weekend.
