MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University will be looking to rebound from its rough stretch this past weekend and potentially sweep its non-conference season series with Bryant & Stratton College-Albany (N.Y.) when its hosts the Bobcats for a doubleheader Tuesday at Harry T. Moore Field.

Both games Tuesday will be seven innings, with game one set for a 12 noon first pitch with game two scheduled to begin 30 minutes following the conclusion of game one.

About The Lions (10-9)
  • FMU comes spilling into the week after a rough weekend, getting swept by NCAA Division-II Chestnut Hill College (Pa.). in its weekend series.
  • The Lions set new single-game and series-worst marks for hits, extra-base hits, and runs allowed against the Griffins.
  • Junior outfielder Jalen Young did have a solid week at the plate this past week, earning a Sun Conference Player of the Week nomination by going 6-for-14 with 2 home runs, 10 RBI, and 2 runs scored.
  • Florida Memorial defeated Bryant & Stratton 9-2 on March 8th, rallying from a 2-1 deficit thanks to a 7-run seventh inning – which included a 3-run homer by Young.
  • Three players have appeared in and started all 19 of the Lions' games this season – Fernando Vila, Axel Gomez, and Luis Ruiz – and all three are hitting better than .327.

Scouting Bryant & Stratton (4-18)
  • Since losing in Miami Gardens this past week, Bryant & Stratton has going 1-4 – losing four straight after it toppled Florida National University March 9.
  • The Bobcats' annual spring road trip down the east coast and into the Sunshine State continues to be a taxing one. Since taking on University of South Carolina-Beaufort on March 5, BSCA will be playing its 11th and 12th games in 10 days when it plays Florida Memorial Tuesday. Also, the Bobcats still have doubleheaders against SUN teams St. Thomas University (March 16) and Warner University (March 18) later this week.
  • Bryant & Stratton head coach Bob Godlewski also serves as the school's interim athletic director.

Series History
  • Florida Memorial leads the all-time series against BSCA 5-2.
  • In their meeting earlier this season, catcher Rafael Ferrara hit a pair of doubles and had 2 RBI.
  • The teams split each of the previous two doubleheaders that they played.

Keys To Victory
  • FMU must put the previous weekend out of its collective psyche and cannot allow a negative morale creep in – even if the team starts slow Tuesday.
  • While head coach Florentino Burgos made efforts to bolsters his bullpen, it appears that the Lions' pitching will continue to be the lynchpin in any success they have this season.
