MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University still has some control over its own postseason destiny heading into the weekend's three-game series against visiting No. 19 Keiser University as the Lions need to win at least two games of the set beginning Friday at Harry T. Moore Field to vie for a potential berth in next week's Sun Conference Baseball Championship Tournament.

Friday will feature a single game set to begin at 2 p.m. and the teams will conclude the series with a doubleheader Saturday starting at 12 p.m.

About The Lions (22-16, 9-12 SUN)
  • While FMU had its eight-game win streak snapped this past weekend, it more than stood toe-to-toe with NAIA No. 1 Southeastern University – losing the series in a sweep but dropping the three games by a total of seven runs.
  • The Lions held leads over SEU in games one and three and matched the Fire for hits in the series (28).
  • Florida Memorial currently sits in the seventh place in the SUN standings, just outside the cutoff of teams that earn a berth into the conference's postseason tournament.
  • The Lions are 1.5 games behind University of South Carolina-Beaufort (11-13), which currently sits in sixth place, in the conference. They'd need to take at least two games this weekend to create a tiebreaker situation.

Scouting No. 19 Keiser (31-17, 12-9 SUN)
  • Keiser rolls into Miami Gardens as winners of five of its past seven games.
  • Amid their recent run, the nationally ranked Seahawks took two games from No. 1 Southeastern and swept Florida National University this past weekend.
  • KU is led by one of the conference's top hitters in senior infielder Tim Bouchard. Bouchard ranks in the top three in almost all major hitting categories – batting average, slugging percentage, hits, and home runs – while leading the SUN in RBI with 69.

Series History
  • Florida Memorial trails the all-time series against KU 19-65.
  • The Lions did topple Keiser in the regular season opener this year 9-6. Prior to that win, FMU had lost the previous 10 consecutive meetings.
  • FMU last took a weekend series from the Seahawks during the 2018 season, winning it 2-1 on its home diamond.

Keys To Victory
  • FMU's defense must be solid over the weekend. Errors in the infield hurt the Lions against Southeastern – especially in the third game of the series – and they cannot afford to have a repeat of that kind of performance.
