Lions Flag Football Falls At Warner University In Rain-Soaked Game Thursday

LAKE WALES, Fla. – Playing through interment downpours of rain, Florida Memorial University was able to snap its scoreless streak but couldn't overcome the elements or host Warner University Thursday, falling to the Royals 20-7 at WU Field.

The inclement weather even delayed the start of Thursday's game, pushing it back from its scheduled 3 p.m. start to a 3:45 p.m. kickoff, and took its toll on both teams offensively.

FMU (1-8, 0-7 The Sun Conference) saw its offense struggle but its defensive picked up the slack in the second quarter when freshman Kayla McDuffie stepped in front of a Warner pass returned it for a touchdown.

Up Next
Florida Memorial will have a week to regroup and prepare before it takes a road trip to Thomasville, Georgia to face Thomas University in what will be FMU's final road game of the season.
