MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University's flag football team will compete on a national stage this weekend as it participates in the 2022 NAIA National Women's Flag Football Tournament presented by NFL Flag in Atlanta, Georgia at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
 
The second-year program received an invitation to be among the 12 teams at the national final tourney after competing against top-rated teams within the Sun Conference and will have the opportunity to potentially bring home a national championship if it successfully matriculates through the event's compass bracket.
 
Teams will be placed into pools of four and will play two games on the opening day (Thursday) and will return to the Atlanta Falcons' field Friday (May 13th) for action that will determine where each team will place and eventually a national champion.
 
FMU, which finished the regular season 1-10 overall but nearly pulled of few upsets throughout the year, was placed in "Pool C" alongside SUN confrere St. Thomas University, Midland University (Neb.) – which the Lions already defeated this season – and Ottawa University (Kan.).
 
The winners of the first two games will square off to determine the pool's champion while the losers of the first two games will play to determine the third place finisher.
