Box Score PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. | The FMU Lions soccer team fell 5-1 against NCAA Division II opponent Barry University at Broward College South Campus Field.
In the first half, Florida Memorial trailed 1-0 before a weather delay that lasted well over an hour. When play resumed, the Buccanears added another goal before halftime. Florida Memorial finally got things going in the second half with a goal from a penalty kick (PK) from
Geovannie Lake, cutting the deficit to one.
For the majority of the second half, FMU continued to battle and had chances to find the equalizer, but simply could not find the back of the net. In the final 12 minutes, Barry added an additional three goals to assure the road victory.
As a team, FMU finished with 11 total shots (four on goal) while its counterpart produced 22 total shots (11 on goal). Despite the final 12 minutes, FMU goalkeeper
Joshua Aranzazu was marvelous all night, making numerous saves for the Lions. Aranzazu finished with a game-high six saves but allowed five goals in the loss.
The Lions return to action on Saturday, September 10 as they face Embry-Riddle. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Daytona Beach.
