MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial women's soccer goalkeeper
Hailey Ilijin stamped her name into the FMU record book as the sophomore broke the record for most saves in a season as well as most career saves in program history. The previous record was held by goalkeeper Bethany Ivens.
Ilijin eclipsed the record by having 148 saves in the 2023 season and 254 saves overall in her career in two years with the Lions.
The Ohio native reached the milestone in the last game of the season against the Thomas Nighthawks, where she finished the game with 13 saves to bring her season tally to 148.
"I never thought my love for rolling around in the dirt as a child would get me here into the record books as a goalkeeper," lijin explained. "I'm so thankful for everyone that has helped me to achieve this great accomplishment."
The goalkeeper known for her shot-stopping abilities will go down in the history books as one of the top goalkeepers in the history of the women's soccer program.
