FMU storms back with 2 second-half goals to earn result

Draw snaps 13-match skid for FMU Lions dating back to 2021.

Box Score TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. | Florida Memorial gave up two goals in the first half before roaring back in dramatic fashion, scoring in the 63rd minute as well as adding the equalizer in the 77th minute en route to a 2-2 draw at Qualls Field. The draw snaps a 13-match losing streak dating back to 2021.

"We had a mishap in the back from our keeper that allowed a silly goal," said head coach Marc Lue Young. "Nonetheless, we came back. It was a great effort from our ladies. It has been quite a while since this program tied a game. I'm proud of our team, but it is still bittersweet not coming home with a victory."

Junior striker Kiara Kallie carried the team on her shoulders in the second half, scoring both goals for the Lions despite trailing by two goals at the break.

FMU returns to action on Tuesday, Aug. 29 as they travel down the road to face Florida National. Kickoff is set for 12 noon in Hialeah.
