MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Marc Lue Young enters his second season as head women's soccer coach; however, it'll be his first year coaching the women's team without an interim tag. After taking over a program that has struggled in recent years, he is determined to lead the Lions to success and make his mark on the conference.
"It's very exciting to finally kick off the season this Friday at Florida College." said Coach Lue Young. "I feel that we put together a competitive schedule, starting with our non-conference games before we move onto conference games against three Top 25 opponents. We had a very competitive preseason and we are consistently improving day by day."
"We have a fairly young team with 19 newcomers to our program, having a great balance between international and domestic-based players." Lue Young stated. "I am mostly looking forward to watching them grow and develop over the next few years."
Lue Young is no stranger to success, winning three consecutive championships as the head coach for Pembroke Pines Charter High School in Pembroke Pines, Fla.
He began journey at Florida Memorial journey in July of 2021 as assistant men's soccer coach before serving as interim head women's soccer coach in July of 2022.
"There's a family atmosphere within this group and everyone is ready for the challenges ahead." Lue Young said.
Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Qualls Park in Temple Terrace, Fla.
A victory on Friday would be exactly what Coach Lue Young needs to set this program ablaze; this would be the first road victory for the program since October 2018, and their first overall victory in nearly two years (Oct. 2021).
