FMU's Mitchell finishes with near triple-double in 82-73 victory over Southeastern

Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | No. 16 Florida Memorial's defense played exceptional, holding the Fire to just 23 first half points en route to an 82-73 victory at the FMU Wellness Center.

Latavious Mitchell, who was recently selected as one of two SUN Conference Players on the Bevo Francis Top 100 Watch List, finished three blocks shy of a triple-double as he produced 20 points, 10 rebounds and seven blocks.

FMU guard Derrius Ward and Lions forward Raheem Carter both generated 15 points apiece for the Lions, who improve to 4-2 in conference play. FMU point guard Chanze Cruesoe chipped in with six points, 11 assists and two steals in the victory.

As a team, the Lions' bench outscored the Fire 32-20.

Florida Memorial returns to action on Saturday, January 27 as they host Keiser. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. at the FMU Wellness Center.
