TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. | Florida Memorial University's women's soccer team played the role of spoiler on Florida College's senior night, dominating the Falcons 4-0 in Temple Terrace.
FMU kicked off the scoring in the 33rd minute of the match. Sophomore Laila Ortiz Nolan extended the Lions lead in the 37th minute, off the assist from
Irati Elorduy. Scoring continued in the second half, when sophomore
Sierra Bartley scored her 11th goal of the season, off an assist from
Rudo Marufu in the 55th minute.
The Lions added icing on top of the cake in the 85th minute, when
Jada Samuels, off the assist from Nolan, scored the fourth and final goal of the match, sealing the victory for FMU. Goalkeeper
Lucia Martinez Garcia kept a clean sheet, allowing zero goals as she finished the match with two saves, defending the net for the Lions.
The win advances FMU to 6-4-2 on the year, remaining 2-3-2 in conference play.
The Lions return to action Wednesday, October 23, when they'll host Warner. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. at Dr. Lester Brown Park.
