The Lions finished the regular season 24-6 and 9-5 in conference play, and were crowned 2024 SUN Conference Men's Basketball Tournament Champions after defeating their crosstown rival St. Thomas 65-61 under the direction of first year head coach Delano Thomas, who recently won an NAIA Men's Basketball National Championship at Shawnee State.

A win would send the FMU Lions to the second round of the NAIA Men's Basketball National Tournament and would face the winner of SAGU and Baker on Saturday.
