Game 1:

After two scoreless innings, senior
Luis Ruiz kicked off the scoring with a massive three-RBI home run that brought
Kyle Morrison and
Ivan Zambrano around the diamond to give the Lions a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third.
Harris-Stowe generated three runs in the top of the fifth to tie the game 3-3, but outfielder
Raymond Rivera broke the equalizer in the bottom of the inning, with a two out, two-RBI double that scored utility player
Nathan Harris as well as Ruiz to open the Lions advantage to two over the Hornets.
FMU's scoring continued in the bottom of the sixth, with a Ruiz RBI bringing home Zambrano followed by a
Alejandro Fernandez RBI that scored Ruiz for his game-high third run of the contest. Miami junior
Reinaldo Prieto put the final nail in the coffin, with an RBI single that brought home junior
Pheron Charlton in the bottom of the eighth for the Lions' eighth run of the game. The FMU defense shut out the Hornets in the top of the ninth to claim the 8-3 victory and the fifth this season on home soil.
Boynton Beach native
Max Charnin started on the mound for the Lions and in 4.1 innings allowed five hits, three runs, and six walks while striking out two Hornets. Junior
Kelvin Feliciano (1-0) came in relief, earning the victory, allowing only two hits and one walk while generating five strikeouts. Junior
Stephen West finished on the mound for FMU, allowing one walk while striking out one Hornet.
Game 2:
Florida Memorial - 12 - Harris-Stowe - 1
The Lions poured in six runs in the second inning and then dropped an additional five runs in the third inning in a demolition of the Hornets.
Harris generated a game-high three-RBI and added two hits and one run while teammates Prieto and Charlton both produced two-RBI apiece.
FMU pitcher
William Hiciano was credited with the victory, striking out seven Hornets and allowing one earned run in seven innings pitched.
The Lions return to action Saturday, March 9, where they'll take on Harris-Stowe State for the second doubleheader of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Harry T. Moore Baseball Field.
