MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial's women's soccer team lost its first match of the season against Edward Waters University 2-0 in the Big Cat Classic. Despite out pacing EWU in shots (13-12), the Lions failed to find the back of the net, while the Tigers put together two goals in the second half, including one in the final five minutes. Lucia Martinez Garcia, despite allowing two goals, generated five saves for the Lions in the defeat.
The loss drops FMU to 4-1 on the year and remain 1-0 in conference play.
The Lions return to action Saturday, September 21, where they'll travel to St. Thomas for the Battle of Miami Gardens. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Autonation Field.
