Cosom scores late match-winner in FMU's 3-2 victory over New College of Florida

SARASOTA, Fla. | Florida Memorial University's women's soccer team ends its trip to New College of Florida in a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Banyans.

FMU superstar Sierra Bartley scored her first of two goals of the day in the sixth minute to give FMU the lead. NCF answered in the eighth minute to tie the match 1-1, where it stayed going into the half. The Banyans took the lead with a goal in the 59th minute, but Bartley found her second goal in the 71st minute, assisted by Laila Ortiz Nolan, to tie the match 2-2. Moments later, Bartley played a brilliant through-ball to speedster Oshynn Cosom, who scored the late match-winner in the 78th minute to put FMU over the edge, winning 3-2 over NCF in conference play.

Despite allowing two goals, FMU goalkeeper Lucia Martinez Garcia generated four saves in the win.

The win ends a three-match skid, moving the Lions to 5-3 on the year and 2-2 in conference play.

FMU returns to action Saturday, October, 5, where they'll host St. Thomas in round two of the Battle of Miami Gardens. Kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Orange Bowl Field.
