MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial University's home opener against Florida National University was one for the ages. After being down 2-1 to the Conquistadors going into the half, the Lions mounted a charge with two second-half goals to complete the 3-2 comeback at Dr. Lester Brown Park.
The Lions were down early after FNU scored the opening goal in the seventh minute. Sophomore midfielder
Sierra Bartley answered back with her first goal of the match, assisted by
Irati Elorduy, in the 12th minute to tie 1-1. Florida National retook the lead in the 30th minute to go into the half up 2-1 in the home opener. The second half was a thriller, with both teams going back and forth and cards filling the contest. But once again, Bartley showed her prowess by scoring the equalizer in the 63rd minute and the game-winning goal from Laila Ortiz Nolan in the 75th minute. FMU completed the second-half comeback to win the home opener 3-2 over FNU.

Lucia Martinez Garcia allowed two goals in the match but had two crucial saves in the victory. FMU moves to 2-0 on the season.
The Lions return to action Tuesday, September 10, where they'll host Florida College. Kick off is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Dr. Lester Brown Park.
