FMU Lions Upset No. 8 Ranked Palm Beach Atlantic in 1-0 Victory

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. | Florida Memorial University men's soccer team secured a thrilling 1-0 victory in the final moments of the match to upset the NCAA DII No. 8 Palm Beach Atlantic at the Rinker Athletic Campus in a dramatic fashion.

The first half of the game went scoreless as both teams fought relentlessly to find that golden opportunity. It was in the second half of the game, with less than one minute on the clock, when forward Luigi Gallo made a brilliant effort to strip the ball from the Sailfish goalkeeper, giving his teammate Khaim Andy Brice the golden ticket to seal the victory for the Lions. Sophomore Frank Sanchez led the team in shots, owning five out of the nine taken by FMU.

Goalkeeper Ricardo Delgado Villalobos stood tall as the last line of defense, recording two saves and allowing zero goals to earn another well-deserved clean sheet.

The victory gives FMU a two-game winning streak and puts them at 4-5-3 on the year as they aim to build momentum going into their next match-up.

The Lions return to action on Wednesday, October 15, as they'll host Webber International in a SUN Conference showdown. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Dr. Lester Brown Park.
