Suber arrives in Miami Gardens after spending the 2024 season in the Canadian Football League as the secondary coach at the Ottawa Redblacks, where he helped lead a secondary that produced two All-Pro CFL defensive backs, Damon Webb and Adarius Pickett. Webb broke franchise records for interceptions for touchdowns in a game (two) and tied for most interceptions in a game (two). Suber's secondary helped the Redblacks finish with the best home record in organization history and make the playoffs for the first time since 2018.
Before his time in Ottawa, Suber spent the 2023 season as the cornerbacks coach at his alma mater Middle Tennessee State University. During his time in Murfreesboro, he saw All-CUSA DB Teldrick Ross finish as a Wuerffel Trophy Nominee and go to New England Patriots training camp following a stellar senior season. All-CUSA DB Tra Fluellen had his senior cut short due to injury but eventually signed and is currently on the New Orleans Saints roster, while sophomore DB Tyrell Raby finished as an All-CUSA newcomer.
From 2020 to 2022, Suber served as the receivers and tight ends coach with the Ottawa Redblacks. Under Suber's tutelage, receiver Jaelon Acklin reached career high accomplishments in 2022. Acklin was the first WR to reach 1,000 yards during the year, while finishing as an All-Pro CFL WR despite suffering a season ending injury with four games remaining.
Suber spent 2018-2019 coaching receivers at Murray State University. There in 2019 he helped Malik Honeycutt to 1st Team All-American, 1st Team All-OVC and All-Newcomer OVC.
In 2018, he was named defensive coordinator at Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas.
Suber served as a graduate assistant and football operations assistant at Bethune-Cookman University in 2017. He worked with the defensive backs and special teams while traveling ahead of the team to confirm all hotel and travel operations.
He began his coaching career with stops at Middleton High School (2015) in Tampa, Florida and Westwood High School (2016) in Fort Pierce, Florida where he had pass game coordinator-secondary coach and special teams coordinator-secondary coach duties.
Suber and his beloved wife Valentine have a son – Avi.
His older brother Allen Suber has nearly two decades of coaching experience along with Black College Football Hall of Fame honors and time on NFL rosters.
The Tampa, Florida native was an All-State running back and team captain at Jefferson High School from 2003-2005. Suber graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Middle Tennessee State University where he was a team captain and 1st Team Sun Belt Conference. He was instrumental in the 10-3 season capped by a 42-28 New Orleans Bowl win against Southern Miss in 2009.
Suber went on to make a name for himself as a defensive back in the Canadian Football League for 6 seasons. He was apart of the history making "Swaggerville" defense for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers from 2010-2014. He finished his career playing for both the Toronto Argonauts (14) and Saskatchewan Rough Riders (15).

Lu'is Mcleod - Defensive Line Coach
In 2024, McLeod helped guide Florida to a late-season charge, winning the last four games of the season to finish with an 8-5 record overall, with victories over No. 21 LSU, No. 9 Ole Miss, Florida State and Tulane in the 16 th Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl. The Gators were one of just unranked six teams in the nation to post multiple top-25 wins on the year. As a unit, the Florida defense finished the season ranked ninth in the nation in red zone defense (.725), 11 th in sacks per game (3.0), 11 th in fumbles recovered (11) and 13 th in turnovers gained (25).
The Gators finished the year with at least one takeaway in 10-straight games and 12 times in 13 games. The Gator defense improved in nearly every statistical category from 2023 to 2024, including sacks (+17), tackles for loss (+28), forced fumbles (+11), pass breakups (+12), interceptions (+11) and turnovers gained (+18). Individually along the interior defensive line, Caleb Banks and Cam Jackson were a formidable duo for opponents all season long.
Banks finished with 21 tackles, seven tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, one pass breakup, six quarterback hurries, one fumble recovery and two forced fumbles. Jackson tallied 37 tackles, four tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, two pass breakups and one quarterback hurry. He joined the Gators 3 years ago after serving as Hawthorne high school defensive line coach during the 2021season.
Native of Gainesville, Florida, Mcleod graduated from Jackson State University in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in sports management & kinesiology. He earned four letters playing both defensive tackle and offensive guard for the Tigers from 2008-2012.
Marquis Smith - Linebackers Coach

Marquis Smith joined the Lions in the spring of 2025.
With him he brings a commitment to excellence, player development, and a winning culture. Smith, a native of Prince George's County, Maryland, has built a commendable career in football, both as a player and a coach. Over eight years of coaching experience at the collegiate level, Smith has built a reputation for his dedication, leadership, and mentorship.
Known for his ability to develop players both on and off the field, Smith's coaching philosophy emphasizes key values such as discipline, teamwork, and accountability, ensuring that athletes grow as both players and individuals while giving back to their community.
Edward Arza - Wide Receivers Coach
A dedicated leader on and off the field, Coach Arza has built a career rooted in hard work, passion for the game, and an unwavering faith that has guided every step of his journey. Arza comes from a family of football coaches. His father, Eddy Arza is recognized as one of the pillars of High School Football in South Florida with over 40 years of experience winning not only State Championships but a National Championship as well. Not only in South Florida but across the whole state, the Arza name speaks for itself.
Arza grew up in Overtown where he then attended The Historic Booker T. Washington Sr Highschool. While at Booker T. Washington, he held an above 4.0 GPA that earned him the FHSAA Scholar Athlete Of The Year Award. He finished off his senior campaign with not only leading his team to a State Championship but also being awarded the Fox Sports Catch Of The Year Award that helped secure the historic victory.
His talent and dedication earned him a full scholarship to East Tennessee State University, where he continued to develop his skills and football IQ. Despite having a few years of eligibility left, Arza knew what he was called to do. In the Summer of 2022, He was selected 1 of 100 Male Student-Athletes in the nation to attend the NCAA Career in Sports Forum. Shortly after that event, he made the decision to start his coaching career at the early age of 21.
His first stop was at Florida International University where he helped with the Defensive Backs in 2022. That opportunity then led him to serve as the Quarterback Coach & Passing Game Coordinator at his Alma Mater - Booker T Washington for the 2023 season. Arza quickly moved up the ranks, beginning as a Wide Receiver Quality Control Coach at Eastern Kentucky University. His expertise and leadership led to a swift promotion where he then worked directly with the Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, and Running Backs for the 2024 season. (Top 10 in Rushing Yards & Top 25 All-purpose Yards Nationally).
Through every stage of his journey, his faith has remained his foundation, shaping his approach to mentorship, leadership, and personal growth. Whether on the field or in life, Arza believes in leading with integrity, perseverance, and a higher purpose.
