Florida Memorial University names Seth Morris Director of Sports Performance

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial University announced the hiring of Seth Morris as Director of Sports Performance.
 

Morris is a highly accomplished sport performance coach known for his innovative approach and proven track record of success with elite athletes. Respected by coaching peers and athletes alike, he has demonstrated a high aptitude for maximizing athletic performance across various disciplines.

With over 15 years of collegiate experience, Morris is a distinguished athletic performance coach known for his innovative training techniques and impressive results. He has played a pivotal role in the development of multiple sports teams, contributing to their achievements of over 110 NCAA All-American performances, more than 60 professional draft picks, and numerous team and individual National Championships.

One of his notable athletes, Carson Vinson, was drafted in the 5th round (141st pick) by the Baltimore Ravens. Vinson has received multiple postseason accolades, including being the first HBCU player invited to the 2025 Reese's Senior Bowl, earning AFCA FCS All-America Second Team honors, and being recognized as the Phil Steele 2024 SWAC Offensive Lineman of the Year. He started in all 48 games for the Bulldogs.

Morris' extensive background in sports science encompasses velocity-based training, GPS analysis, force output, and autoregulation. He served as the Director of Sports Performance at Alabama A&M University during the 2023-2025 seasons and previously held the position of Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Edward Waters University from 2022 to 2023. His career also includes roles as Director of Sports Performance at McDougle Tech (2020-2023) and Associate Director at Southern Mississippi (2018-2020). He began his journey as the Assistant Director of Sports Performance at Stillman College from 2016 to 2018.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Morris has worked with professional athletics, including a position with the Arizona Rattlers in the AFL, as well as internships with the Arizona Cardinals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Dallas Cowboys. He also gained valuable experience during his internship at Penn State University, where he earned his graduate assistantship from 2012 to 2014. Seth holds a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Ohio State University and a Master's degree in Kinesiology from Penn State University.

As a dedicated leader, Morris is committed to empowering student-athletes through a holistic approach that fosters a championship lifestyle. He stays informed about the evolving landscape of college athletics, including NIL, transfer portals, and roster retention, enabling him to effectively identify key performance indicators (KPIs) for training in speed, agility, power, and strength, ultimately enhancing athlete durability and availability for competition.

Morris holds several professional certifications, including CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist), FMS (Functional Movement Systems), PES (Performance Enhancement Specialist), CES (Corrective Exercise Specialist), and USAW, along with First Aid certification. His unwavering dedication to excellence and passion for athlete development make him an invaluable asset to any athletic program.
