Box Score JACKSONVILLE, Fla. | Florida Memorial University's women's soccer team tied fellow HBCU and NCAA Division II opponent, Edward Waters 2-2 in Jacksonville. The contest was a back-and-forth affair, as the teams exchanged goals throughout the match, resulting in the tie.

Scoring began early in the first half, when Edward Waters got on the board in the ninth minute to take the lead. The Lions responded with a well-placed shot from junior Olecia Colston, in the 28th minute, to tie things up 1-1 going into the half. Similar to the first half, EWU scored first to take the lead 2-1 in the 73rd minute. With less than three minutes on the clock, senior Julia Duarte found the back of the net in the 88th minute to wrap the match up in a 2-2 tie.

Goalkeeper Isabella Rueda played all 90 minutes, finishing with two goals allowed and one save.

The tie marks the third straight for FMU, moving them to 2-1-3 on the season.

The Lions return to action Wednesday, October 1, when they'll host St. Thomas for the conference opener and round one of the Battle of Miami Gardens. Kickoff is slated for 11 a.m. at Dr. Lester Brown Park.
