Box Score ATLANTA, Ga. | Florida Memorial Univeristy's second round of the Sunshine Showdown ended in a close 17-12 defeat to fellow HBCU, Clark Atlanta.
Clark Atlanta took an early 7-0 lead, but running back junior
Nygel Osborne found the end zone for six in the second quarter to close the gap. CAU extended their lead to 10-6 going into the half and came out with two more scores in the third quarter. Down 11 in the fourth, freshman
Fernando Jeanty rushed in for a touchdown to close the gap to 17-12, but with time expiring, FMU could not close the gap.
Starting quarterback
David Buggs went 5-for-12 on the day, throwing for 39 yards and one interception. Junior
Jalen Holly led the team in receiving yards with 15. On the ground, Jeanty led the charge in yards with 59 on 11 attempts, while fellow scorer Osborne ran for 51 yards on 12 carries.

The loss drops FMU to 0-2 on the season.
Florida Memorial University returns to action Saturday, September 27, when they'll host Cumberland for the home opener. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. ET.
