MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | RV Florida Memorial University will begin its 2026 season with a home tilt against No. 10 Life. Head coaches
Andrew Harper and Clavens Charles enter their second seasons co-leading the program, after earning a spot in the SUN Conference Tournament for the first time in program history. Charles talked about his expectations after a historic 2025 season.
'As we enter the 2026 preseason for Florida Memorial University Women's Flag Football, my expectations are centered on consistency, accountability, and growth across every level of our program," said Charles. "This preseason is about establishing daily habits that translate into success on and off the field, with a strong emphasis on effort, discipline, communication, and attention to detail. I am especially looking forward to seeing our new players adjust to the standard, compete with confidence, and embrace the process of development while learning our system and culture."
Sophomores
Kalyce Williams and
Ameria Smith, amongst others, return after successful freshman campaigns. They're joined by senior
Ronisha Gibbs, who has been with the program since 2022, and looks to lead the young core of players. Multiple freshmen join the team, such as
Jayda Simmons and
Audrey Young, who look to make an immediate impact this season.
"Returners are expected to elevate the room by leading through actions, setting the tone in practice, and holding themselves and their teammates accountable," said Charles. "We will demand physical and mental toughness, mastery of fundamentals, and a commitment to preparation, film study, and conditioning. Every rep matters, every day counts, and improvement must be visible week to week. This preseason is about building trust, sharpening execution, and creating a unified team identity that reflects pride in wearing the FMU jersey and a relentless commitment to excellence."
In 2025, FMU finished the season with a 4-11 record and 2-5 conference record. They nabbed the final spot in the SUN Conference Tournament, the first time in history the program made the postseason. FMU received votes in the inaugural NAIA Flag Football Preseason Poll.
