Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 SARASOTA, Fla. | Florida Memorial University split its opening doubleheader with New College of Florida 6-10 and 5-1 at IMG Academy.
FMU held the lead for the first half of game one, a series of runs from NCF put them over the edge, and despite a two-run top of the ninth by the Lions, it wasn't enough to overtake New College. The second game was another story, as FMU was the one who overtook NCF late and came home with the conference victory.
Teammates
Don McKnight III and
Armando Ramirez each had a pair of runs and hits for the Lions, leading the team, with Ramirez leading in RBIs with four. Senior
Jamal Johnson (5-2) got the win, allowing six hits and one earned run while striking out seven Baynans.
The split moves FMU to 17-21 on the year.
FMU returns to action Saturday, April 11 for the doubleheader finale against NCF. First pitch is slated for noon in Sarasota.
