Florida Memorial University Athletics

Mariana Gongora joined the FMU softball team in spring of 2024.

A native to Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, Gongora graduated from Sports Leadership & Management Charter High School in 2023 where she won the 2021-2022 District championship and 2022-2023 district championship under head coach Henry Laurido along with MVP of the slam softball team in 11th grade from 2021-2022. Gongora played for the Powerhouse team for two years under coach Laurido winning the championship in the "el pollo" tournament in Puerto Rico.

Gongora chose FMU because  it was the first school that opened the doors to her and that was always aware of her. Her favorite part about FMU is being with the softball team. Gongora's interests include:

Favorite/most memorable sports experience(s): "When I started playing baseball (Because first I played baseball and then softball) on my dad's team, his team was incomplete and he asked me to play and I did it and he told me not to swing, I did swing and gave my first hit."
