MIAMI GARDENS, FLA- USA & Former Florida Memorial University standout Jeffrey Henderson came through on his final jump to claim the gold medal in the Men's Long Jump on Saturday at the Rio Olympics. Henderson leaped 8.38 meters (27 feet, 6 inches) to edge past Luvo Manyonga (8.37) of South Africa by 1 centimeter.
Henderson attended Florida Memorial University from 2010 to 2011. During that time, Henderson was NAIA National Champion in the Indoor 60 Meter Dash and All-American in the Men's 100 Meters Dash and Men's Long Jump. Henderson broke the Sun Conference Meet record in both the 100 Meters Dash, Long Jump and the Men's 4x400m Relay.
