GAINESVILLE, Fla. | Florida Memorial University competed in the SUN Conference Indoor Championships and took home multiple gold, silver, and bronze medals in a successful meet.
The Lions showed a bit of power and speed this weekend at The Sun Conference Indoor Championships. On the men's side, Narrson Tulloch took gold in the men's weight throw and silver in the shot put. Teammate Braylon Colgrove redeemed himself from last year's second place by claiming the crown of the Sun Conference's fastest man in the 60m in a personal best of 6.82. In other events, Isiah Palmer placed 4th in the 200m, Kalil Murphy got fourth in the triple jump and 4th in the 4x400 relay with Mense Houndje, Kalil Murphy, Kheron Duprat and Braylon Colgrove.
On the women's side, Akira Hamilton got silver in the women's long jump with a jump of 5.33. In the 60m hurdles, Yasmyne Williams got the bronze with 8.82. Shanise Ellis scored a personal best in two events with a fifth-place finish in 60m with 7.61, which is a B standard national qualifying time, and 8th place finish in 200m with 25.42. Also, Taela Campbell scored in two throwing events with a sixth-place shot put and weight throw.
The Lions return to action Thursday, March 5, for the NAIA Indoor National Track & Field Championship in Gainesville, Fla.
