Box Score Florida Memorial University women's basketball team came from behind to score 14 points in the final two minutes of regulation to beat Warner University 64-56 in Sun Conference play on Saturday afternoon at the Turner Athletic Center on the campus of Warner University. The win is the seventh straight for the Lady Lions to open Conference play as they stand alone in second place (9-11, 7-3 TSC).
Warner opened the game with an 7-3 run, but Florida Memorial responded with a 8-4 run to tie the game at 11-11. The teams went back-and-forth for the rest of the half with Warner heading to the break with a 34-29 advantage.
In the third quarter, the Lady Lions went on an 8-2 run to finish out the quarter and pull themselves within three points of Warner. In the fourth quarter, the Lady Lions poured on the offense to take the lead 56-55. With 3:26 to go, Florida Memorial turned up the heat and held Warner to one point in the final 5:32 of the game. The Lady Lions went on a 14-2 run over the final six minutes of the fourth quarter and outscored Warner 18-7, for the period. The victory concluded a comeback from a 14-point deficit starting the fourth period for Florida Memorial.
Florida Memorial out-shot Warner 53 % to 27 % percent. The Lady Lions shot 57 % from the three point line to Warner's 26 %.
Andrisia Sweeting led the Lady Lions with 18 points. Abreona Cabell poured in 16 points and grabbed 15 rebound, while Danielle Bailey contributed 9 points.
Florida Memorial returns to action on Thursday evening when they head to St. Thomas for a 6:00 p.m. tipoff.
