MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial University will kick off round one of the SUN Conference Tournament this Tuesday, hosting No. 6 seed Webber International at the FMU Wellness Center. The Lions will look to win their second SUN Conference championship in four seasons and go back-to-back for the first time in program history. Head coach
Kevin Herod talked about the regular season and what it will take to win two straight SUN Conference titles.
"I'm very proud of our team and how we have handled adversity throughout the season," said Herod. "I'm Looking forward to reaching our full potential in post-season play."
The Lions enter the postseason as the No. 3 seed. The team has a lot of momentum, as they ended the regular season on a five-game winning streak and winning seven of their last eight games. They finished the 2025-26 regular season with a 16-8 record and a 10-6 conference record.
FMU is going for their fifth conference championship. They won the title in the 2008-09, 2010-11, 2022-23, and 2024-25 seasons. Herod is 1-for-1 in conference titles for the Lions, after defeating Southeastern 89-63 last season as the No. 1 seed.
Round one of the SUN Conference Tournament begins on Tuesday, February 24 at 5:30 p.m. at the FMU Wellness Center.
