The FMU Lady Lions (3-3) traveled to Florida Gulf Coast University (1-1) to take on the Eagles in women's basketball.
In 2017 the NCAA Division I Eagles of Florida Gulf Coast University qualified for the NCAA Tournament and this season they were looking for an easy home opener to kick off the 2018 campaign. The Lady Lions of Florida Memorial University had others plans as they were up for the challenge. Although the final score was 99-68 in favor of the Eagles the Lady Lions fought hard.
The first quarter ended pretty lopsided as the Eagles put up 33 points and FMU only 15. The second and third quarters were more competitive as the Lady Lions scored 20 and 19 points. In the fourth quarter the Eagles resisted the Lady Lions attack by keeping them to only 14 points while scoring 20.
Leading the way for the FMU Lady Lions were the Battle sisters as they combined to score 62 of the 68 points in this game.
Kanesha Battle had 31 points, Bri Battle had 21, and
Tyesha Battle had 10.
Catch the Lady Lions at home on Saturday, Nov. 17th, at the FMU Wellness Center as they take on St. Thomas University at 2:00 p.m.
