Lady Lions Suffer Rare Home Loss

Box Score The Lady Lions suffer a rare home loss to conference opponent Keiser University (12-13, 6-8 TSC) on Thursday night, 85-92.

The Lady Lions of Florida Memorial University (17-11, 7-7 TSC) looked like a team ready to get things going in the right direction during pregame warmup. They showed a lot of energy and enthusiasm as they prepared for game time, but when the game started they came out flat. In the first quarter, the Lady Lions scored 17 points but gave up 23. In the second quarter, things started to look up for the Lady Lions, they roared back and took the lead at 25-23. However, the lead would not last and they would only score 10 points in the second quarter, the score at the half, was Keiser 43, Lady Lions 27.

In the third quarter, the Lady Lions simply could not get much going offensively, only scoring 12 points. The bright spot for the Lady Lions, in the third quarter, was that the defense was able to keep the Seahawks to only 12 points as well. Something finally triggered in the fourth quarter, for the Lady Lions, they scored and astounding 46 points. The energy and enthusiasm that they showed during pregame was back in the fourth quarter. However, too little too late as they say. The Lady Lions showed much grit and determination but could not come away with the victory and suffered the loss by a mere seven points. The Seahawks led by as much as 22 at one point in the game.

The Lady Lions finished the game shooting 38% from the field, 27% from behind the 3-point arc, and 56% from the charity stripe. Leading the way for the Lady Lions was Kanesha Battle with 33 points. This was Kanesha's third consecutive game scoring at least 30 points.
