MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Coming off back-to-back road losses – to Sun Conference and neighborhood rival St. Thomas University and in an exhibition against Florida Gulf Coast University – Florida Memorial University's women's basketball team could use a bit of "home cooking".

The Lady Lions return to the friendly confines of the FMU Wellness Center this weekend, where they will put their undefeated home record on the line against HBCU rival Edward Waters College Saturday at 2 p.m.

Saturday will be a rivalry doubleheader as FMU's women will take the floor first and the Lions' men will take on Edward Waters' men at 4 p.m., or 30 minutes following the conclusion of the women's game.

Florida Memorial (6-5), which had won four straight games prior to its two-game road snide, is a perfect three-for-three in home games this season with an average margin of victory just over 35 points per game.

Entering the Lions' Den, however, is an undefeated Edwards Waters (11-0) team. The Tigers, who are natural rivals for Florida Memorial since Edward Waters is the only other historically Black college or university in Florida, got the best of the Lady Lions in their November 8th matchup and have shown themselves to be a high-powered offensive team – scoring at least 80 points in nine of their 11 wins.

As the case has been all season, Florida Memorial's road map to success begins with senior Isis Lane. The 6-foot-4 forward has been a consistent double-double producer for the Lions, but FMU head coach Gregory Stanback will also need Lane to anchor his team's defense and add to her team-high block total. FMU's success will also hinge on their ability to limit turnovers. In last month's loss to Edward Waters, Florida Memorial committed a season-worst 32 turnovers – 23 of which coming on Tigers steals.
