MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Riding a three-game winning streak and coming in rested from a 10-day hiatus, Florida Memorial University's women's basketball team will look to earn its second road win of the season when it travels to play Florida National University Wednesday night.
Wednesday's game, which will be the first in a women's/men's doubleheader, is set to tip-off at 5:30 p.m. at Bucky Dent Gymnasium in Hialeah, Florida. The men's teams will take the floor 30 minutes following the conclusion of the women's game.
The Lady Lions (5-4) defeated Florida National 90-58 two weeks ago (Nov. 19) – which ended up being the first victory in FMU's current streak. Also, Florida Memorial senior
Isis Lane notched a double-double (19 points and 15 rebounds) against the Conquistadores – the first of a three-game streak of recording at least 10 points and 10 boards.
Lane's performance against FNU – and the subsequent games – was just a cog in a very balanced offensive attack for the Lions.
Shawnice King,
Airneisha Gamble,
Unique Tate, and
Ashleign Gary all finished with double-digit points in November's game against Florida National and was key in FMU's current win streak.
Since losing to Florida Memorial, FNU's women have bounced back – winning two out of three games since. However, the loss was quite an embarrassing one, losing to the Sun Conference's Southeastern University 82-34.
