MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University's women's basketball team will be looking to snap a two-game home losing streak and earn its first win of the new year when it hosts Sun Conference foe No. 2 Southeastern University Saturday afternoon in the FMU Wellness Center.

The Lady Lions (7-7, 2-2 Sun Conference) will enter Saturday's game, where admission will be free to fans thanks to a special New Year's promotion, fresh off a nearly two-week hiatus thanks to the college's holiday recess.

Florida Memorial women's head coach Gregory Stanback said that the time away from the court would probably be a good thing for his team after it dropped back-to-back home games Texas Wesleyan University and Cumberland University respectively before the break.

Waiting for the Lady Lions Saturday will be a Southeastern University team that has shown itself to be among the top teams in not only the conference but in the NAIA. The Fire (13-2, 5-0) recently knocked off No. 1 ranked Concordia University (Neb.) and has outscored opponents by an average of 32 points per game this season.

Florida Memorial 6-foot-4 senior Isis Lane has been the team's stalwart, leading the team in points (13.7) per game, rebounds (9.9) per game, as well as total steals and blocks. Coach Stanback has seen an increase in offensive production from guard Shawnice King recently, but will need a more balanced and collective effort if the Lady Lions are to upend Southeastern.

What should be a feather in the Lions' cap is their December 14th win over HBCU rival Edward Waters College. Florida Memorial handed the Lady Tigers their first loss of the season in a 66-64 victory – a game in which five FMU players scored at least eight points, led by 19 from King.
